David Bartle

Orthopaedic Surgeon

David is a Spine and General Orthopaedic Surgeon working at Tauranga Public Hospital and Grace Hospital. David commenced his tertiary study in mechanical engineering before going on to study medicine at the University of Otago. He completed his undergraduate medical training in 2002 and his orthopaedic specialty training in 2012. He subsequently travelled overseas completing a Knee Fellowship in Edinburgh and a Spine Fellowship in Brisbane. These fellowships were supplemented with a number of shorter observations at specialist centres. 

David is a Fellow of the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association, Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. 

Surgical Education and Disaster Relief are two of David’s professional interests. David has a Masters Degree in Surgical Education from the University of Melbourne and works with the New Zealand Medical Assistance Team and New Zealand Defence Force as an orthopaedic surgeon. He is married with two young sons.
