The paediatric and tumour modules of the Pacific Island Orthopaedics Association training scheme was held from July 30th to August 17th 2018 at Tupua Tamasese Meaole Hospital in Samoa. 14 trainees attended the two modules. Lectures were given by New Zealand orthopaedic surgeons Dr. Sud Rao and Dr. Koen De Ridder as well as our own Orthopacifix Dr. James Aoina. Other international lecturers included Dr. Des Soares (programme director), Dr. Peter Cundy, Dr. Andrew Morris from Australia, Dr. Eka Wiratnaya from Bali, Indonesia and Dr. Stephen Kodovaru from Solomon Islands. The lectures were supplemented with practical demonstrations. Each morning consisted of a ward round seeing two patients and allowing the trainees to present the history and clinical signs of each patient. Management of the patient was then discussed as well as where improvement in clinical skills could be made.
